How often do I have to take the medication?
Typically a once-weekly, self-administered subcutaneous injection

Do I have to diet?
Avoid high-fat/fried foods, eat smaller, more frequent meals, and stay hydrated. Combining the medication with a healthy diet and regular physical activity will boost effectiveness.

What is the difference between tirzepatide and semaglutide?
Tirzepatide acts as a dual agonist. This means that it is a medication that mimics two incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP) to regulate blood sugar, increase satiety, and promote significant weight loss in patients with type 2 diabetes or obesity. Semaglutide is a single GLP-1 agonist. It is a medication class that mimics the natural hormone GLP-1 to manage type 2 diabetes, promote weight loss, and reduce cardiovascular risk.

What are common side effects?
Nausea, constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and fatigue.

Who is eligible?
Generally adults with a BMI of 30 or higher (obesity), or 27+ with at least one weight-related condition (e.g., high blood pressure, diabetes). GLP-1's should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Is insurance accepted?
GLP-1 medications are often covered by insurance for Type 2 diabetes, but coverage for weight loss is limited and highly variable. While some employers and plans are adding coverage, many restrict it via prior authorization, BMI requirements, or high-tier, high-cost, co-pays. Coverage is frequently denied for weight loss alone. For these reasons, our clients self-pay for their medications.
